BQ24120 TS resistor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24120

Hi TI TEAMS

I have two questions for BQ24120 application

1.If the TS pin is not used in the application, it should be connected to GND through 10kΩ pulldown resistor ??

2. Can I adjust the temperature for this range 0~60 ? If it can reach , how to calculate?

thanks

  • Hello,

If you are not planning on using a thermistor/temp sense feature of the bq24120 you can not leave the pin floating, tied to GND or tied to VBAT. You need to use a voltage divided to place the voltage sensed on the TS pin in the acceptable range detailed on Pg. 7 of the datasheet. a voltage around 50% of VTSB will allow the part to operate thinking that the temperature is fine.

Solving for supporting a temperature range of 0C to 60 is a function of the thermistor that you are using, is temperature coefficients and then sizing you voltage divider network attached. This can be accomplished using Equation (1) in the datasheet on Pg 13.
