Power supply switching

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD13383F4, CSD83325L, CSD13302W, CSD13306W, CSD15380F3

Hello all,

I have a unit with following input power supplies: (1) +7V with 0.4A, (2) +5V with 0.2A and (3) -5V with 0.06A.

I have to switch-off the unit with a DO from a controller.  This controller is operating on a separate power supply.

Any of the CSD13302W, CSD13306W, CSD13383F4 or CSD83325L will suite for my application? Further any driver device is required?

Can anybody suggest me the suitable circuit please?

Thanks in advance.

  • Srinivas,
I can't help you on the controller or circuit side of things but all of those FETs you mentioned to be able to handle the current levels you a proposing. Is the FET just acting as a load switch here, or is it operating in a switch mode power supply?
  • Dear Brett,

In my application, FETs are proposed to act as load switch.

Can you please suggest me the best suitable FET for my application?

Is there any device required to drive the FET in High-side configuration?

  • If they are just a load switch then any of those will do. No reason to be bigger then you need to be so if you can handle mounting it, I would recommend the CSD13383F4. You could even go smaller with something like the CSD15380F3.

These FETs can really be driven by anything. They are logic level and rated down to 1.8V or 2.5Vgs so as long as the gate voltage is above that, and below the max Vgs of the device (10V for both of these), you should be fine.
