Changning voltage DCDC1 and DCDC2 TPS65218

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65218EVM-100

Hi,

I bought board TPS65218EVM-100 for testing. I am planning use this chip in new project.

And I have some problems:
– I could not change voltage on DCDC1 and DCDC2. I can change voltage on DCDC3, DCDC4 and LDO1, but I cannot change DCDC1 and DCDC2. Registers had changed, voltage not. Where is the problem can be?
– I need none-default start-up voltages. I find conversation https://e2e.ti.com/support/power_management/pmu/f/200/t/454749 . How can I get possibility write EEPROM? What do I need to do for this?

Best regards, Anton

  • Hi Anton,

The thread you pointed out does describe the two options for EEPROM programming. We will have someone reach out to you via PM to discuss your project and to help determine which option will fit your needs.

  • Hi William,

Thank you for fast answer. I will wait results of discuss.

And I will wait any information about first quetion: DCDC1 and DCDC2 do not change voltage.

    Anton
  • Hi Anton,

Thanks for the post! DCDC1 and DCDC2 are different from the rest of the regulators on this chip as they require 1 more write to change their output voltages. In order to change the output voltages on DCDC1/2, the slew register (0x1Ah) must be written to. Below is a description of the bits in the slew register. A 1b can be written to bit 7 to enable the GO function to change DCDC1/2 voltages. Or alternatively a 1b can be written to bit 6 to disable the GO function entirely which allows for the voltage to be changed when DCDC1 or DCDC2 registers are modified. The voltage on DCDC1 and DCDC2 must be modified first before the SLEW register write. Let me know if there are any questions. Thanks!

  • Hello Paul

Thank you, it help make changes on DCDC1 and DCDC2.
Can you explane why TI make this bit? Why only for DCDC1 and DCDC2 channel? Not for all?

I need change EEPROM for other default voltages. Have I can get this possibility?
