LM337-N: LM337-N Temperature Specifications

Part Number: LM337-N

It seems that the temperature specifications for the LM337T version of this IC changed from -40C to 125C to 0C to 125C between version D of the data sheet and version E. Is this a valid change or was this simply a mistake in the documentation?

I have a customer who has been using the LM337T in their product and it is used in a lower temperature application. They are worried that the chip might not perform properly if the new temperature specifications are correct.

Can you look at this and let me know if the new specification is correct or if this was simply a documentation error?

Thanks for your help with this!

  • Has anyone had a chance to look at the request above?

Can you give a time frame as to when you might be able to provide the information?

Thanks for your help with this!

  • Richard, the temp ranges in current rev E datasheet are correct. It seems there was an error in the previous version.

We will discuss possible customer implications off-line.

  • Richard,

The info in the abs max table and recommended operating conditions table in the datasheet for LM337-N is correct and has always been correct. There may have been a mistake in the ordering table at the end of the datasheet which has been fixed. The “LM337T” version is from the LM337-N device which has 0°C to 125°C temp range and comes in the TO-220 package. The LM337I device which has the -40°C to 125°C temp range is only available in the SOT-223 package. I have reached out to you through email so feel free to contact me directly.
