BQ27542-G1: Learning Cycle Failure

Hi,

I am using BQ27542-G1 gas gauge for battery charge monitoring and facing issues in learning cycle. Below are the two tries which I have done.

In the first attempt, The discharging phase completed successfully. We had kept for relaxing. During relaxing period, after some time, we got an error message “RUP_DIS/RDIS: Not clear” and learning cycle cancelled.

In the second time, it failed during relax time after charging cycle completed. In the "Updated Status" it was changed from 04 to 05. But we got an error : (VOK : Not clear).

Please help to understand why this failure happening.

Can I get the exact flow of the entire process. Below mentioned is the flow which I have done.

Selecting the Chemistry ID ( Selecting Default)
Calibration (CC and Voltage)
Setting Parameters Q & A
Starting Register Logging and Data Memory Logging. ( Observed that logging does not happening sometimes. Sometimes Learning cycle is not starting if logging enabled)
Starting Learning Cycle. Observed that discharging is happening always at around 800 mA current irrespective of the load which I am using.

Please correct if the procedure which I am following is wrong.

The status bar on the bottom of bqStudio indicates a problem with the connection with the EV2x00 and/or the EVM. Did your PC go into sleep mode during the hours long cycle or did something happen to the USB connection? Please try this with power management on the PC disabled.

Hi,

Tried the above solution but issues are still there. This time it is bit different, Learning cycle (Discharge) started and connected load, but it is showing

Cycle state: "Discharge Mode- Connect load now". Also the current meter is not moving towards -ve direction. It is stuck at 0. On another board, the meter stuck at +28 mA irrespective of connecting discharge load. Please find the attached screenshot. Any input on this?

Please measure the actual load current with an external amp meter. Also check if you get communications errors (see status bar).

also, i would suggest you do your learning cycle independent of the learning cycle plug-in. I have received complaints of that plugin causing bqstudio to act up Just follow any of the learning cycle app notes we have online.

Hi,

Learning cycle is still failing at different phases.

Please find the attached screenshots of each and every stages starts from the beginning of the cycle.

Following are the steps I have tried.

1. Chemistry ID (Used Default)

2. Calibration (CC and Voltage)

3. Parameters Q & A.

4. Learning Cycle - Discharging. -->RUP_DIS = 0, VOK =1, QEN= 0. In Data Memory-->Updated Status --> 04.

5. Learning Cycle - Relaxing

5. IT ENABLE

6. Learning Cycle - Charging

7. Learning Cycle - Relaxing --> It took only few seconds to complete the relaxing time. Don't know why.

8. Learning Cycle - Discharging --->RUP_DIS = 1, VOK =0, QEN= 0.

9. Learning Cycle - Relaxing.

Please have a look and help me to understand why this failure is happening.

You have to identify your chem id first. The default chem id is likely not a match for your battery. pls use gpchem on ti.com for that. It has adequate guidelines

Also, pls follow the attached guideline for performing the learning cycle.
