TPS70933EVM-110: Drop out voltage-Vdo

Part Number: TPS70933EVM-110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS709

One of my customers requires the dropout voltage for TPS70933 at 90mA and 100mA as this is not mentioned in the datasheet.

This information is required taking into consideration the temperature variation from -10 to +85 deg C and also the process variation.

Please indicate the minimum, maximum and typical value of drop out voltage under the conditions mentioned.

Regards,

Harmeet

  • Hi Harmeet,

Dropout is linear with respect to output current.  As such it is common practice to only specify the maximum dropout at full load.  A simple ratio will be able to tell us the calculated maximum at a lower load current.

From the Electrical Characteristics table we see that TPS70933 at 150mA has a typical of 960mV and a max of 1400mV.  At 100mA we can calculate the typical to be 640mV and calculate the max to be 934mV.

Figure 10 from the TPS709 datasheet gives an indication as to how dropout behaves over temperature.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
