REF6041: Voltage References buffer

Part Number: REF6041

Hi

my question is about the opamp that   we use it   for  buffering  ADC  voltage reference

when reference voltage ICs  output    is a DC  voltage,  why we should use wide bandwidth op-amp  in case we want to buffer  it

what is the roll of  bandwidth of op amp here ?

thank  you

  • hi Vahid,

you can find the answer to the first question in the section "9.3.1 Integrated ADC Drive Buffer" of the device datasheet, and figures 17/18/19 can give you a numerical indication...
while for the 2nd question you are right, there is no indication about the BW of internal buffer, but it is a minor because, as refence voltage, you are more interested in knowing the noise level associated to it (i.e. figures 13/14/15)

  • yes my emphasis is about wide BW , about using buffer there is no doubt( either internally buffered or externally buffered ).

    thank you so much
