TPS54040A: Low Voltage Operation

Part Number: TPS54040A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54040, TIDA-00180

Hi, I am looking at using the TPS5404A with efuse protection as in the reference design TIDA-00180. The TPS54040 can step down the voltage to 0.8V, but I am guessing the operation is limited to 5V (stated in the reference design) due to the efuse. Is there any alternative protection IC allowing for operation down to these voltages.

Also, I noticed that a digital-pot was used instead of a DAC to set the voltage. Which method would give the highest voltage resolution when interfacing with the step-down converter as I thought the DAC would be more accurate?

Thanks!
