TPS7A4201: Minimum Input Voltage Range

Expert 1961 points
Part Number: TPS7A4201

I have an application where the worst case input voltage to the TPS7A4201 will be 6.3V.  Nominally the input voltage will be 7.05V, which is within spec.  What aspects of the TPS7A4201 will be affected when the input voltage is slightly below the minimum input voltage spec?

Thanks,

Greg

  • Hi Greg,

Outside of the recommended operating conditions TPS7A4201 may or may not meet the performance depicted in the Electrical Characteristics table or Typical Characteristics curves. We did not do extensive testing outside of the recommended operating conditions. It may be possible that your device enters dropout depending on where you set your Vout.

  • Hi Ryan,

Thank you for your reply. I was hoping that since an engineer determined 7V was the minimum, there would be some notes about what aspects were an issue below that voltage. I'll see what I can do about increasing the supply voltage, and tightening the tolerance to +/- 5% instead of +/- 10%.

    Thanks again, and best regards.
