TPS568215OA: Voltage tracking

Part Number: TPS568215OA
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS568215, TPS62184

Hello TI,

slvsdu7 (the TPS568215OA datasheet) states in paragraph 7.3.5 that these devices track "the lower of the internal soft-start voltage or the external soft-start voltage as the reference".

Do these parts with other words support external voltage tracking like other TI parts? Should this pin have been named "SS/TR"? Does the datasheet need a "Tracking" paragraph similar to slvscq5a 8.4.7 or slvsbh3b 10.1.5  for example, or are there notable functional differences?

  • Hi,

There is slight difference on tracking SS voltage:
    1. if external voltage on TPS568215 SS pin is slower than internal soft-start voltage, then All devices you mentioned have similar tracking behavior.
    2. if external voltage on TPS568215 SS pin is faster than internal soft-start voltage, TPS568215 will only follow internal soft-start voltage. so we didn't define the SS pin as "SS/TR"
    3. TPS62184 will always try to tracking SS pin voltage no matter how fast it is.
