TLC5947: TLC5947 XLAT Application Question

Part Number: TLC5947

Some question about TLC5947:

  1. How to use XLAT function pin? please have more descript about that.

  2. The XLAT can be connected to SPI CS function

  3. If the XLAT connect to SPI CS pin. Does it support turn on/off driver of the TLCC5947? Or need other GPIO pin to control XLAT? Thanks.

  • Hi,

The data in the grayscale shift register are moved to the grayscale data latch with a low-to-high XLAT transition on this pin.

As you can see from the following figure from datasheet Figure 3:

Every time after you send 288 SCLKs, you should send a XLAT pulse to latch greyscale data.

Usually, we use GPIO to generate XLAT after 288 SCLKs, and if you can use CS to generate this XLAT pulse as the timing graph, then there's no problem.

    Regards,

    Kenneth
