LM5145: current sharing amplifier for two phase application

Guru 20090 points
Part Number: LM5145
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMC7101

Hello,

Could you please let me know the required specification of current sharing amplifier in the following article?
https://e2e.ti.com/blogs_/b/powerhouse/archive/2017/11/03/how-to-design-a-simple-two-phase-current-sharing-synchronous-buck-regulator-using-a-voltage-mode-controller

In the article, LMC7101 is used for current sharing amplifier. Is this recommended amplifier for this application?
I think that the amplifier is general purpose amplifier and not high speed amplifier. This device GBW is 0.6MHz.

Best Regards,
Ryuji

  • Hello Ryuji,

The current sense amp feeds into the feedback of the slave channel, the control will be limited by the bandwidth of the control loop, so a high speed amplifier will be redundant, 600 kHz is more than enough for the simple architecture employed here.

    Hope this helps?

    David.
