Hi Team,

My customer is considering TPS61087-Q1 for the following apllication.
------------------------------------
input: 4.5~5.5V
output: 5.5V / 1.5A (max)
------------------------------------

Is it possible to output 5.5V even if input voltage increases up to 5.5V?

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • For the TPS61087 , generally, Vin should be 0.5V lower than the Vo. Suggest you TPS61175-Q1 or TPS55340-Q1, which is more fit for the application.
  • By the way, could you please share the detailed application information with us? LIke the end equipment, Volume, customer, my email address is helen-chen@ti.com
  • Hi Helen-san,

    Thank you for your support.

I heard this boost converter opportunity is yet to be determined.
It is just considering phase for my customer.

My customer requires switching frequency more than 1.7MHz and don't want Pulse-Skipping mode in light load.
It seems both TPS61175-Q1 and TPS55340-Q1 has Pulse-Skipping mode in light load.
Is there any solution that meets the requirement?

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • For TPS61175 and the TPS55340, they enter into the skip mode in the very very light load condition when Ton touches the minimum on time limit specified in the datasheet.  What is the minimum load in their application?

Why the input range is 4.5V-5.5V, is it a USB supplied application?

  • Hi Helen-san,

I heard minimum load in their application is around 20~30mA.

    >Why the input range is 4.5V-5.5V, is it a USB supplied application?
My customer assumes the load (5.5V) is connected to power supply of speaker amp.
The voltage isn't regulated precisely so they considers to use boost converter.

  • 20mA to 30mA minimum load is not enough because the output voltage is not high, only 5.5V. may need >100mA load to ensure it doesn't enter into the skip mode.

Is this for automotive application?  where is the 4.5V-5.5V input voltage come frorm? What is the Volume of this case?  Becasue we need to  study the marrketing requirement of this case as currently there's no right IC for this applicion.
