TLV1117LV: Output voltage ripple issue

Part Number: TLV1117LV

Hi team,

Customer is using our TLV1117LV to convert a 5V input to 3.3V output. In customer's real use case, the 5V input will sometimes drop. But they found that during the 5V dropping period, the output ripple of TLV1117LV becomes larger. Is this a normal phenomenon?

Please see the waveform as below. The yellow curve is the 5V input (AC coupled)and the blue curve is the output voltage ripple of TLV1117LV.

  • Hi Wayne,

It looks like the Input also has increased ripple when during the dip. It is hard to tell since the two curves are on such different voltage scales, but it seems like the input ripple may be bigger than the output ripple which would imply that it is the source of the ripple is either on the input or coupling through the ground plane. Do you know what is causing the input rail to drop?

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
