TPS62742: Reducing power consumption by adding pullups?

Part Number: TPS62742

Will I be minimizing the battery load by using pull-ups for VSEL 1 thru 4 and EN inputs that I need to connect to Vin? The data sheet indicates connecting directly to Vin OK, but if I add high-ohms pull-up resistors, will I be reducing the overall current draw from my battery source?

Hi John,

I think you mean adding 10M-type resistors in series between Vin and the VSELx pins? No, I don't recommend this.

All these pins are specified to draw 25 nA at most over temperature. This is very low. A resistor in series would create a sort of voltage divider and present a lower voltage on the pin. However, this does not necessarily reduce the leakage current, but it does make the pin much more susceptible to noise (which could couple into this high impedance net and change the output voltage or turn off the part).

Thank you for your help. Just to be sure I understand: Is it best practice to directly short the VSELx pins to either Vin or GND? And, does the same apply for the EN input?
