TPS22913: TPS22913 for battery short protection?

Part Number: TPS22913

Dear Sir:

We would like used TPS22913 for battery short protection on wearable application. As below picture ,TPS22913 ON and Vin pin connect to charger and Vout connect to battery , When we remove the charger then TPS22913 some time  will  turn on.  Does TPS22913 suitable for this kind of application? Do you have suggest to us?

Best Regard

Jason

  • Hi Jason,

When VIN and ON are tied together, the device may not block reverse current when VIN is disconnected. If VOUT is powered and VIN is disconnected, then the voltage on VIN will not drop because the FET is still on and will keep VIN high. This will also keep the ON pin high and not disable the device. With very little reverse current flowing through the device, the load switch will not be able to measure a voltage difference between VOUT and VIN, so the reverse current blocking will not activate. The best solution would be to pull the ON pin of the device to GND when the charger is disconnected.

    Thanks,
