Linux/TPS65910A3EVM-583: TPS65910A3A1RSLR alternate part

Part Number: TPS65910A3EVM-583
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65910

Tool/software: Linux

HI,

we are using pmic TPS65910A31A1RSLR in Am335X , supplier don't have the same IC's, so that they are suggesting  alternate part TPS65910A3A1RSLR

can we directly in my board, is there any difficult.

  • Yes, this alternate part number should work in your system, but it may require a schematic change.

Please refer to the TPS65910 datasheet and the TPS65910Ax User's Guide for AM335x Processors (Lit # SWCU093) for details.

The datasheet shows that both orderable part number, TPS65910A3A1RSL and TPS65910A31A1RSL, are programmed for the AM335x processor and DDR3 memory.

When footnote (2) is clicked and the User's Guide SWCU093 is read, you can see that Figure 1 is the drawing for your alternate part number, TPS65910A3A1RSL, while Figure 2 is the drawing for your original part number, TPS65910A31A1RSL.

The only difference is that the VRTC output of the alternate part #, TPS65910A3A1RSL, turns off VRTC in OFF state (to achieve low-power mode).

If VRTC must be supplied when the PMIC is in the OFF state, then a very small Buck or LDO can be used to provide this power, which is shown in Figure 1:
