LM3549: Output current limit of Vout pin in LM3549

Part Number: LM3549

Hello , I have an RGB LED which need 1.5 A total output current and each LEDs(R,B and G) needs different voltages. So I have decided to select LM3549 as driver IC. But the problem is that the maximum output current of the IC is 720 mA, Is it the maximum current that can be out by Vout or any thing else? Can I get 1.5 A total output current from this IC?

  • The maximum output current is limited by the current capability of each channel.  This is a max of 720mA.  Each channel has its own phase, so the maximum output current from the device at any given time is 720mA.  If all three channels are set to max, then the buck/boost will drive each channel at different times (phase 1, phase 2, phase 3).

    Thanks
