CSD18536KCS : Is there a way to reduce or eliminate switching noise?

Part Number: CSD18536KCS

We are designing the inverter circuit using the MOSFET CSD18536 and Driver-UCC3895.

The input voltage is 48V, the output voltage is 400V, and the circuit is being designed with a phase shift method of 300W output.

However, ripple noise is generated at the moment of switching of the MOSFET, which is difficult to solve.

Can you advise me to reduce or eliminate this ripple noise?

  • Hi JunNam,

    Thanks for posting.

In general there are several ways to reduce the ringing on a power FET, most common are adding Rg, pcb layout and adding a snubber.
As this is a TO-220 package the pcb layout will not impact ringing much as package inductance is so high.
So the best methods would be to add a snubber and/or add a gate resistor Rg.
As a suggestion on the snubber (which needs to go across each FET) you could start with 10nF, 100V capacitor and then choose a resistor value to achieve the damping you want, typically between 2-10 Ohms.
For the additional gate resistor typically a value between 4.7 to 10 Ohm should suffice.
