TPS92210: Is TPS92210 suitable for 150Vout@700mA application?

Part Number: TPS92210

Hi Support team,

My customer found a reference design PMP5652 using TPS92210, but their output current needs to be doubled of PMP5652. Is TPS92210 still applicable for their design? Here is the spec requirements:

- Input voltage: 200-440Vac

- Output voltage: 100-150Vdc

- Ouptut current: 500mA to 700mA

- Efficiency requirment: 90% @ 230Vac (at full load)

- PF requirement:  0.98 @ 230Vac, 0.93 @ 480Vac,

- THD: THD<20% with load ≧ 50% at 230/347Vac input

- Dimming: 0~10V analog dimming

Or please suggest better solution for the listed spec.

Thank you.

Wei-Hao

  • Hi Wei-Hao,

The TPS92210 with this design would exceed the maximum peak current value this part is rated for. If the customer wanted to use this device, we can recommend building the prototype by increasing the maximum on time to 15us (see below). This would decrease the peak current value to within specification, but may have additional unforeseen consequences.

We can also recommend taking a look at the TPS92001, which is rated for higher power and would not have the same issue with exceeding the peak current.

    Best Regards,

    Emily
