TL5001: Frequency adjustment

Part Number: TL5001

Hi Team,

The customer uses TL 5001 as a PWM waveform generator.
He wants to adjust the operating frequency to 20 kHz.
In the data sheet, the recommended value of the frequency setting resistor Rt is 15 kΩ to 250 kΩ, and the recommended operating frequency fosc is 20 kHz to 500 kHz.
However, in his experiment, you can not set it to 20 kHz unless you set it to 500 kΩ.
Can you say that there is nothing wrong with using 500 kΩ as the setting resistance Rt?

Best Regards,

Toshio Fukumoto.

  • Hi User5251028,

Thank you for your interest in the TL5001. I reviewed the datasheet and it seems the device was tested down to 40kHz. The 20kHz should be guaranteed by design, and I don't see why you cannot use 500 kΩ. And, your customer should be able to verify this on the hardware.

    Regards,
    Youhao Xi
