TPS40422: Which Pins of TPS40422 can be used as ENABLE/DISABLE Pin?

Part Number: TPS40422

Hi,

I am using TPS40422 for FPGA Powers, For controlling Power on/off sequencing of different power rails I use the Reset Flag of Sequencer IC to

to Disable/Enable Converter, But I am not sure to which pin i should connect this Reset Flag. I mean which pin is the Enable/ Disable Pin of Coverter.

Thanking You in Advance for Help

Regards:

M Kamran

  • Hi Muhammad,

TPS40422 is a two channel controller.
    In dual output configuration, CNTL1 turn on/off ch1, and CNTL2 turn on/off ch2.
    In 2phase single output configuration, CNTL1 turns on/off both ch1 and ch2.

    Thanks

  • Thank you for response,

You mean i should tie Open drain Enable Flags of Sequencer IC to Ctrl1 and Ctrl2?

These Pins works similar to the Enable Pin usually present in other Converters?

Please confirm the while Open Drain output of sequencer tied to Ctrl pins, whenever O/D output will be high, converter will generate

output while when it will low converter will shutdown output.
  • Yes, use CNTL1 and CNTL2 to turn on and off ch1 and ch2.

CNTL1 and CNTL2 is pulled up to BP6 by an internal 6uA current source. That's means the pins will be high if they are open externally.

You can use open drain pin of sequencer to control CNTL1 and CNTL2 pins.

Btw, these basic information are available pin functions table on on datasheet page 3 and 4.

    Thanks
