TPS7B67-Q1: Output Short Circuit Reliability Testing

Part Number: TPS7B67-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7B4250-Q1, TPS1H100-Q1

Dear, Sir.

My customer is considering to apply TPS7B6750-Q1 for their system.

Sounds like, OEM is requiring AEC-Q100-012 short circuit reliability on IC's.

Sorry to ask this kind of matter, but I would like to answer making concensus with

you for them. Please give your advice.

1. I wonder AEC-Q100-012 testing is implemented for TPS7B6750-Q1?

2. If no, Could you please let me know the reason why no implementation.

For instance, the target device of AEC-Q100-012 is embbed FET & integrated

protection function as IPD(Intelligent Power Device). And it for off-board leads(indicated as "Lshort".

TPS7B6750-Q1 is presupposed on-board.

Best Regards,

H. Sakai

  • Hi H. Sakai,

Requests about AEC-Q100-012 are not common. We are looking into your request and will respond as soon as possible.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi Sakai-san,

We've consulted our qualification team and this test is not mandatory for automotive device. We are fully aware of this short circuit test and we agree that TPS7B67-Q1 has thermal protection and short-to-ground protections which has been outlined in the datasheet. This device is considered as a "smart power device". Unfortunately, we don't have plan to run this test on TPS7B67-Q1.

  • Dear, Jason-san.

Thank you so much for your valuable information.

I tried to consider more reasonable cause why not implemented test on TPS7B67-Q1.

How do you think? Can you agree?

    1. I know the ECU manufacturer is doing the open/short checking on ECU PCB after assembly

process. So, open/short never considered on ECU side. AEC-Q100-012 defines Lshort impedance

under "Short at module". But don't need to care this situation due to this reason.

    2. Other definitions on AEC-Q100-012 are based on the supposition for short trouble on

off-board load. TPS7B67-Q1 is not based on the supposition for such off-board load.

    3. The products which is based on the supposition for off-board load, like TPS7B4250-Q1

        & TPS1H100-Q1, AEC-Q100-012 testing are surely implemented.

    Best Regards,

    H. Sakai
