LP3878-ADJ: clarification on Vsd (SHUTDOWN\ input voltage) specification

Part Number: LP3878-ADJ

Team,

-Could you please confirm that the SHUTDOWN\ pin is specified for the same condition as Vin?

-The EVM is showing a 51k resistor between Vin and SHUTDOWN\. What is the reason to use a resistor?
On the Webench generated schematics SHUTDOWN\. is directly tight to Vin.

Thanks in advance,

Anthony

  • Hi Anthony,

/Shutdown pin needs to be lower than Vin and no resistors are needed between Vin and /Shutdown. Some old designs tend to have the resistor which will giving the flexibility on the PCB layout if /Shutdown pin needs to be connected to something other than tied to Vin. But again, you don't have to have the resistor.
