Hello team,

This is wide question about boost converter.

Now our automotive customer is considering to use boost converter as primary power supply.

The purpose is to output stable 12V for secondary power supply or some load.

This boost converter is connected to battery directry so customer have concern as below.

・When Vin>12V, the SW is fully OFF.

・At that time, Vin suddenly drop lower than 12V due to cold crank, and then the boost converter can't output 12V due to delay response.

Is there any countermeasure against cold crank?

Hi Yuta

if a stable 12V is requirement, can use a buck-boost converter or control such as TPS55165, LM5176. or you are looking for the boost with pass through function.

No sure you meaning of delay response, do you disable the boost before the cold crank?
