LDO

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP2951, TPS7A49

Hi Team,
We are looking of 15V input to 7.5-10V output LDO .We need one additional feature that input and output in normal operation should be same but once the enable signal come it should be drop to desire 7.5-10V output. If you have any suitable LDO part than Please provide.

Thanks

  • Hi Gursewak,

Thanks for sending this request over on E2E.

We have many LDOs that could potentially be suitable for your application, however there are a couple of deciding factors that can affect what LDO you use. Can you help answer the following:

What will the LDO be powering?
    What is the output current?
Is there a need for low noise?
Do you have any size constraints?

For now I would like to suggest LP2951 which is a 100mA LDO that supports up to 30Vin and has an output range of 1.2V to 29V with an Enable and PG Pin.
There is also the TPS7A49 which has much lower noise and supports 150mA and supports up to 36Vin with an output range of 1.2V to 33V with an Enable and Soft Start pin.

Please let me know your thoughts on the questions and recommendations.

    Best Regards,

    Wilson

  • Hi Gursewak,

To answer your question in regards to operating at input = output, there should be an external switch such as a FET or a load switch that could achieve what you are looking for.

Here is a TI design that describes your use case: www.tij.co.jp/.../tiduaa4.pdf
Instead of the DC/DC you should consider using the FET/Switch.
