TLV741P: Cap on Vout

Part Number: TLV741P

Hi,

Would it be safe placing af 220uF even though it is not within the range in the data sheet (i.e. min. 1uF, max 100uF)? What is the maximum capacity for garenteed stable operation?

Regards,

Peter

  • Hi Peter,

The Recommended Operating Conditions table of the datasheet is a quick summary of region where TLV741P was designed, characterized, and tested to operate. As such, this LDO was designed for a maximum output capacitor of 100 uF.

It is always recommended to prototype an application; however, this step is particularly useful for capacitor selection. By performing your worst case expected load transient while monitoring the output voltage on a scope, you are able to see the LDOs transient response with your intended output capacitor.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
