TPS7A1601EVM-046: TPS7A1601 / startup operation

Part Number: TPS7A1601EVM-046
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A16

We are feeding this part with an enable signal sourced off of a voltage that will be held up after Vin goes away. I just want to know the implications. Can we just put a series 10k to protect the part?

There was a similar question on E2E, but it does not talk about adding a series resistor

  • Hi Michael,

To avoid potential damage and remain within the operating range of the TPS7A16, it is important that Ven not exceed Vin. While theoretically you could place a resistor between the enable signal and EN pin that has enough voltage drop across it to ensure Ven does not exceed Vin, this is not recommended.

    Very Respectfully,
