UCC27324: H-Bridge to drive a TEC (Peiltier)

Part Number: UCC27324
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD87333Q3D

Hi,

One of our customer is working on a design to drive a TEC.  They will drive the TEC with a 14V supply and to a max current of 10A.  A block diagram is shown as follow:

A H-bridge is required to switch the direction of the current to the TEC.  Switching speed is not critical (few seconds per cycle).

I would like to recommend UCC27324 gate driver and two sets of CSD87333Q3D to form the H-bridge circuit.

Will these combination be good for their requirement ?

Regards,

CM.

  • Hello CM,
I reviewed the basics of the CSD87333 power block and I have some comments. I see that the input to the power block is a single PWM signal and the two switches are driven by the power block internal logic. So I think you only need one two channel driver to provide the PWM inputs to the two power blocks.
Also the power block gate drive voltage is recommended to be from 3.3V to 8V. So I would connect the VDD of the power block and VCC of the UCC27324 to a bias within that range. A 5V bias seems like the recommended, optimum voltage for the power block.
Confirm the details of the power block datasheet for the detail input signal and VDD bias requirements. With these changes I think the proposed circuit should work for the customer application.
