BQ500212A: WPC v1.2 compliance, or alternative options

Part Number: BQ500212A

Hi,

We are currently designing a Qi transmitter that is required to be v1.2 compliant.

Can you please confirm if this is possible with the BQ500212A?
It appears that this device only meets v1.1 compliance, but I would like to confirm this.

If it is not compliant, are there TI alternatives (preferably single IC) that do meet v1.2 compliance?

Thank you.

  • The BQ500212A and other TI TX are NRND with no follow on products planned. But no EOL is planned and unit will be available for some time.
Best application for the BQ500212A is in a proprietary application with the RX and TX designed to work together.
Change from WPC 1.1 to WPC 1.2 for existing 5W devices was limited many 1.1 devices will meet 1.2 requirement.
  • Thank you for your reply.

I just don't fully understand this statement:

Does the BQ500212A meet the WPC 1.2 standard?

  • Hello
A transmitter designed with the BQ500212A will probably meet WPC 1.2 standard. Many requirements are external of the IC. The changes from WPC 1.1 to 1.2 for 5W systems, now called Baseline Power Profile are minor and the BQ500212A will meet them.
