TPS62180: not willing active discharge

Hello,

We don't want to discharge output capacitor. In this case, does TPS62180 work VO pin leave floating or high value resistor connected between Vo pin and output capacitor positive node?

Hi Watanabe-san,

It is not permitted to not connect the VO pin. This pin is also used for the AEE function.

Let me check if a series resistor is allowed.

Hi Watanabe-san,

I confirmed that we cannot accept a resistor in series with the VO pin. This pin is used for other functions, besides the output discharge.

Can you add a diode in series with the output, or use a load switch to disable the output voltage from going to the load, without a discharge?

Do you need 6A or would 4A do? We have the TPS621361 without discharge.

Unfortunately we need 5A. Do we have an alternate device without active discharge or disable by disconnect/high value resister connected?

Hello, Chris-san,

The architecture seems similar with TPS54821. It needs capacitor for compensation. It seems no device without compensation capacitor and active discharge...
