TPS63070: Can VSEL be toggled during operation

Part Number: TPS63070

Hi team,

I understand that VSEL can be toggled during operation.

In that case, how does the current limit and the PG work during the output voltage switching period?  For example,  when customer switches the output voltage from 3V to 5V, is the PG pin held low and the input current limit reduced to typically 1A during 3V to 5V switching?

Regards,

Yamaguchi

  • Hello Yamaguchi-san,

Let me clarify your question with a designer and come back to you tomorrow.

  • Hello Yamaguchi-san,

Please excuse me, I missed the designer today. Please expect my answer tomorrow.
  • Hello Yamaguchi-san,

VSEL can be changed during normal operation. The current limit will not change during the transition phase. The transition will happen very fast. The measurement at room temperature that I did showed a transition from 3.3V to 5V below 40us.

Normally the PG will stay high during this transition phase.

Only if the device is going into current limit (due to high load current and low input voltage) and the output is not able to follow the expected trasition, the PG will be triggered.
