BQ34Z100-G1: What is the minimum requirement for BQ34z100-g1

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hello Ti,

I have few questions on the BQ34z100-g1.

First is about Supply Voltage. Refer to the datasheet, it recommends 2.7 - 4.5V with no operating restrictions. Does "no operation restrictions" means it works properly, like it can read the voltage, remain capacity etc. properly?

In the other hand, I would like to ask about IT enable problem. Will it possible that the BQ34Z100-g1 need another IT enable command if the chip is turned off due to disconnected power?

Thanks for the help.

Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,
Yes, "No operating restrictions" means it can perform all functions, including updating its own flash. Flash memory updates require brief high current pulses.
The "No FLASH writes" voltage range of 2.45V to 2.7V means it can still measure and report voltage, remaining capacity, etc. but it simply won't be able to update flash.

    Regarding your second question:
Once you send the IT_ENABLE command, the gauge will modify a bit in the Update Status parameter in dataflash (from 00 to 04, or 02 to 06, for example). Therefore even if the IC loses power and turns on again, it will know that IT was previously enabled and will resume normal operation while allowing Qmax and Ra updates.
