TLV1117LV: working between recommended maximum and absolute maximum input voltage

Part Number: TLV1117LV

Hello team,

Is there any risk if TLV1117LV works between the recommended maximum and absolute maximum input voltage?

The recommended maximum voltage is 5.5V, the absolute maximum voltage is 6V. However, in some condition, the input voltage will rise to 5.7V for 10min+.

"These are stress ratings only, which do not imply functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under Recommended
Operating Conditions" It's not easy to understand this description in the datasheet.

Thanks.

  • Hi Dongbao,

We design, characterize, and test our devices for operation within the Recommended Operating Conditions. Going beyond the Recommended Operating Conditions is not recommended because performance under such conditions may or may not meet the performance specified and characterized in the datasheet. Also exceeding the Recommended Operating Conditions may degrade the reliability and lifespan of the device.

Since your application will exceed the Recommended Operating Conditions, it is extremely important that you perform your own characterization so that you understand the performance you can expect in your application.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
