WEBENCH® Tools/TPS548D22: TPS548D22

Part Number: TPS548D22
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS548D21

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi,

I start a FPGA core supply with the TPS548D22. The use of REFIN_TRK is not clear for me !

On the datasheet, this pin (named RESV_TRK) must be no connect.

By the past (2017), an other person have ask about this pin : https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/633665

The given response was do not connect this pin.

But, the Webench Power Designer (Beta version) show a design with this pin connected to ground thru a 1nf ceramic capacitor. Why ?

Which is the "good" design ?

Thanks.

Regards.

  • Hi D. Tourres,
The tracking function for the TPS548D22 is disabled and cannot be enable by the mode pin setting. Since this function is disabled, the RSV_TRK (reserve for tracking) is already pulled down to ground by it's internal circuitry.

The TPS548D21 has this tracking function enable if the MODE pin is selected for this feature, hence the name REFIN_TRK (reference input tracking). The 1nF is there to filter any potential noise when using the external reference feature for the TPS548D21.

I believe the Webench for the TPS548D22 needs to be updated to match what the datasheet recommend which is to leave this pin floating.
    Thank you.
