TPS7A65-Q1: Is revision E of data sheet wrong?

Part Number: TPS7A65-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7B82-Q1

Hi,

we are using TPS7A6550QKVURQ1 in several project actually in production.

I wanted to use it in a new project and so I downloaded the data sheet. With a big surprise I found that that the last data sheet revision changed the minimum operating voltage from 4 to 11 V.

In my opinion this is a mistake because in page 1 is written "Low-Dropout Regulator" and in the Electrical Characteristics table Line regulation is still specified as:

VIN = 6 V to 28 V, IOUT = 10 mA, VOUT = 5 V => 15 mV MAX

Please confirm the data sheet is wrong and correct it with a new revision, or justify the reason for the change.

In production we need a low dropout regulator for all currrent projects that use this component!

  • Hi Roberto,

    It has come to our attention that there was a very small chance of the output not coming up with lower input voltages (less than 11 V). We have added production screens to help further reduce the likelihood of this occurring; however, we also have increased the minimum input voltage to 11 V and issued a Product Change Notification in August.

    It should be noted that we have not seen any issues in off-battery automotive applications where this device is mainly used. This issue was only found in applications with a constant DC voltage less than 11 V.

    Please consider TL720M05QKVURQ1 which is pin-to-pin compatible or TPS7B82-Q1.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
