UC1843A: UC1843AJ versus UC1843AJ883

Part Number: UC1843A

Trying to determine what the difference is between UC1843AJ and UC1843AJ883.  Is there any difference?  Are these parts made on different lines?  Are these parts tested differently?  What is the part marking for the non-883 part versus the 883 part.

  • Hey Ron,

There isn't any differences between the parts. The 883 is a reference to a military standard followed by the part.

Adding 883 is an old naming convention that isn't followed thus when parts are renamed to more modern part numbers the 883 is dropped.

    Thanks,
    Daniel
  • Hello,

    Thank you for the reply.

Does this mean that ANY UC1843AJ part manufactured (recently) is compliant to ‘883’?

So, any part picked up through distribution is, in essence, a UC1843AJ883?

In the TI data sheet, at the end of the data sheet, it shows that there is a marking difference between the 883 and the non-883 part. Can I say that despite the marking, are these the identical parts?

    Thanks for your patience.

  • So, I have answered my own questions below, based on what Daniel stated above. Are these answers correct?

Trying to determine what the difference is between UC1843AJ and UC1843AJ883. Is there any difference? (rs - NO, these parts are identical)

Are these parts made on different lines? (rs - NO, These parts are manufactured from the exact same die with the exact same processes on the exact same manufacturing lines)

Are these parts tested differently?(rs - NO, these parts are tested in the exact same manner)

What is the part marking for the non-883 part versus the 883 part. (rs - Despite the information in the Datasheet, the parts marked with UC1843A or UC1843AJ are the exact same part)

    Thank you.

    Ron Simpson (rs)
  • Hey Ron,

Yes you can say despite the naming discrepancy that they are the same part.

    Thanks,
    Daniel
