TPSM84A22: Could you please help check with power loss analysis to see how many load is ok (not trigger over temperature)for the module based on the customer's set up?

Part Number: TPSM84A22

Hi team,

My customer tested our EVM board with VIN 12V, Vout 1.8v, load 10A, no fan, ambient 95°C, and find the device will trigger thermal shutdown.

You know the module's performance will change based on the device variation. So they cannot get the result based on one board test result.

Could you please help check with power loss analysis to see how many load is ok (not trigger over temperature)for the module based on the customer's set up?

Thanks.

  • Hi Frank,

The customer's ambient temperature of 95degC is too high for a 12V/1.8V at full load application. Figure 6 shows a "Safe Operating Area" for 12V/1.8V. At full load with natural convection(black), the maximum recommended temperature is roughly 77degC based on the graph.

    Regards,
    Jimmy
