TPS40422: Can i use it's default without PMBUS programming to achieve 12Vin, 0.8Vout 50 A two-phase single-output mode?

Part Number: TPS40422
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40322, TPS40428

HI

Can i use TPS40422's default setting and not do PMBUS programming to achieve 12Vin, 0.8Vout 50 A two-phase single-output mode?

Thanks!

PY Tsai

  • hi PY,

The default OC per phase is 30A which may be too low for 50A design (phase current is 25A)
Also, the IOUT_CAL_GAIN in PMBus should match actual inductor DCR value for make OC threshold correct.

If customer does not need PMBus, they can consider TPS40322.
Another option is TPS40428+CSD95378B. I think TPS40428 default setting can be used for customer's design.

    Thanks
