UCC3817: design of 1.5kw Boost pfc

Part Number: UCC3817

For Design of BOOST PFC

input voltage- 100(min) to 300(max)

frequency- 50Hz

Output voltage- 400 (min)  450(max)

Output Power- 1.5Kw

Switching frequency - 100Khz

can be design using UCC3817 PFC ic ?

if not please suggest the suitable Boost PFC for Above mentioned design Parameters

thank you

  • Hello Bharat P. upadhye,
Is your output voltage fixed or do you want it to vary from 400V to 450V ?
If your set point is fixed at 425V (with a 400V to 450V tolerance) then you can use the UCC3817 for this application.

  • hello john,

    Thank you for reply

The output voltage is constant (i.e 425v ). and for 1.5KW design UCC3817/18 is it suitable?

and 1) if output voltage is varying then what will be change in circuit and suggest me PFC controller IC for same.

    2) what is measure difference between IC UCC3817/18 and UCC3819

i am little bit confused as mentioned in feature of UCC3817 in above Picture 1) is it for less than 150W and greater than 750W applications or

more than 150W and less than 750W application if so then is suitable for 1.5KW design?

    thank you

  • Hello Bharat P. Upadhye

If you wish to vary the output voltage then all you need do is change the voltage divider ratio on the VSENSE input.

As I said in the previous reply you can use the UCC3817 for this application.
My point is that you cannot get a 400V output with a 300V ac input.

There is an error in the product comparison sheet above.
CCM controllers are mainly used in applications greater than 150W, not less than 150W.

  • hello john,

    thank you for suggestion

so can i use universal input line 85V to 265V (as mentioned in data sheet UCC3817) to get Constant Output voltage (400v), 1.5KW design. ?

    thank you

    regards

  • Hi Bharat P. Upadhye,
    Yes you can .
The UCC3817 is a suitable choice this application
