Hello Sean,

Your lack of response to my posting on the TPS61196 evaluation board start up problem take it as a design weakness of the TPS61196?

Thank you and regards

  • Hi Ben,

  • The problem still remains the same since first informed in December.
It is a standard Ti demo board and will break when switching off and on quickly.
You already checked this Ti demo board in our application of found no problem with the many waveform I sent.
Is juts going around in circle without getting an answer.
  • This is the thread started back in November 2018, nothing has been solved.

  • Hi Ben,
Since you have changed the full scale current for each channel, but you just have changed R26 which is only was used to change the full scale channel current. But you also need to change the headroom voltage for each channel. You also need to change R23 to provide enough headroom voltage. for 100mA , you have changed R26 to 51k, and refer to Figure5 in datasheet. R23 need to larger than 100mV*51k/307.3mV=16.6k. Can you try to adjust the R23 and havy try. i really don't have much ideal on this case. Sorry again.

  • Thanks for your suggestion.

May I point out to you one more time, the main problem is switching off and then on quickly, this will cause damage.
This happened with TPS61196 demo board as with TPS61199 demo boards.

How would you suggestion help the switching off and on damage problem.

For your information, we had demos running at whole CES 2019 without problem so long we do not switch off and on quickly! 5 minutes waiting will do nicely.
  • Sean,

If you have no idea how to solve the problem, is there nobody in Ti that has some understand into this problem with the TPS61196/99 demo boards?

I have been posting this for more than 3 months still the no results, just going around in circle.

    Thank you.
