REF200: Modern SMT REF200 Replacement or Alternative

Hello,

Working on a tiny design and am looking for a replacement or alternative to the venerable REF200 which is only available in the "huge" SOIC package. Needing both a current source and a current sink, (2) separate, very small devices could be feasible.

Hi Zebryk,

The REF200 is a very versatile device but we do not have an updated version of it. If there is specific features you need from the REF200 might be possible to build them discretely. A voltage reference + resistor can act as a current source or sink.
This application note goes over some of the basics. The amplifier isn't always needed. www.ti.com/.../sbva001.pdf

That App Note is from Burr-Brown and is from the year 2000.

One would expect some update over 19 years.

FYI, we would be using this with the TLV9062 or (2) of the TLV9061.

We need a solution in this size for a miniature medical product.

Cost is not very important.

Can you point us at some specific "Voltage Reference" or other part more suitable than the REF102?

That application note is applicable for our entire TI series voltage reference portfolio:

The smallest series voltage reference is the REF33xx family below I available in QFN. The application note is also applicable to this device.

Another alternative is a using a '431 device like the TL431LI. See figure 37 on the datasheet for current sink. This solution might not be the smallest but it is very flexible.
