Hi TI support members.

I'm Chiaki Endo.

Our question has been asked by Mr. Kanao of TI Japan until now.

Please confirm below items.

1.When full charged and continue charging, the battery will not recharge unless it reaches "Recharge Threshold".

Does the SOC of GG fall below 100% during that period?
We worry that SOC value will be changing from 100% to 99% or 98% after full charged and continue charging.
If it is, what is suggeston to avoid it?

2.Does the INT output at BAT_FAULT(OVP) transmit 256 us pulses only at the moment when BATOVP (VBAT_REG * 104%) is exceeded?

or continue to deliver 256 μs pulses at regular intervals while exceeding it?
And how much is the response time for sending INT with OVP?

Hello,

1. I believe this answer will depend on whether your battery fuel gauge monitors battery relaxation as discharge. I would confirm with your fuel gauge manufacturer. SOC and battery are not necessarily the same thing. SOC can be based on multiple things including voltage, Coulomb counting, temperature, cell age, impedance, etc. What I can say is that the recharge threshold on the BQ25601 is based solely on voltage.

2. Only a single pulse on the rising edge (where it is exceeding).

Hello,

I have additional question.

1.We use bq 27426 as the fuel gauge. Please answer to the previous question when using this IC.

2.How much time does the battery voltage exceed BATOVP for the IC to judge BAT_FAULT (INT output)?
ex.
VBAT>BATOVP period
≦100us：Not BAT_FAULT (not output INT)
100us＜：BAT_FAULT (output INT)

Hey C. Endo,

The deglitch time for the BATOVP to trip is approximately 1us (this is to disable the charging). However, the response to flag the /INT is 20ms (typical).

Please reach out in a separate new thread about the fuel gauge recharge, relaxation, and SOC calculation. Someone from the appropriate team within TI will answer. I only support the battery chargers.
