TLC59284: 500kHz LED control

Part Number: TLC59284

Hi,

my customer would like to turn on and off 5 LEDs at 500kHz frequency. No brightness control is needed.

In the datasheet, it only specify the data transfer rate to be 35MHz.

My understanding is that the switching frequency is related to LATCH pin and should be aligned with the LATCH pin frequency.

Can it meet 500kHz frequency?

Is this one the cheapest device that can meet the requirement?

  • Hi Howard,

TLC592xx family is the ON/OFF device, the frequency of this family is the SCLK frequency/data bits. the max frequence can be 35MHz/16=2.2MHz, it should meet the 500kHz requirement.

But I think TLC59284 may not meet the LED voltage requirements, since the required voltage for 5 LEDs may be over 10V. However TLC59284 just can support up to 10V.

Also I need to know how many channels, the current requirements of each channel and the forward voltage for each LED before choosing a proper device.

    Regards,

    Shawn.
