I don't understand why TPS62097-Q1 needs Anchor Pin, the datasheet introduces very little about this.

could I get rid of the Anchor Pin when I design package?

Hi Gary,

Anchor Pin is connected to edge to provide solder joint reliability in mechanical stress conditions. Could you explain why you want to remove this pin?

Because the isolated pad is easily peeled or peeled off during debugging and production.
And I don't think there is a need to increase the Anchor Pin, after all, there is a Thermal pad fixed, the chip size is not large, the stress of the chip itself should not need to increase the reliability of the edge pad.

Hi Gary,

I would recommend to follow footprint suggested in datasheet and the device package was design to guard against mechanical stress as I explained above. This app note will give detail information : www.tij.co.jp/.../slua271b.pdf
