TPS630250: TPS630250 unable to driver 330uF bulk cap at output?

Part Number: TPS630250

Dear Sir/Madam,

Is there a limit of the cap value that we can drive at the output of TPS630250?

My customer mentioned that TPS630250 is not able to drive 330uF bulk cap at output. I checked on the webench, the recommened limit is 10uF to 90uF. is it true 330 uF is not possible? Why?

If this device cannot drive 330uF load cap at output, will you be able to recommend one part no which can do that. Preferably with soft start features.

Vin= 3.5 to 5V, Vout=3.3V @2A

Best Regards,

kpk

  • Hello kpk,

    There is no limit on the output capacitance of TPS630250.

    In customer applications, it is possible that the source impedance causes issues when adding such high capacitance on the output without increasing the capacitance on the input. Please ask the customer to measure the input and output voltage at the same time to check if the input voltage on the input of the IC is dropping and causing the issue he observes.
  • Hello kpk,

    I haven’t heard back so I’m assuming you were able to resolve your issue. If not, just post a reply below (or create a new thread if the thread has locked due to time-out).
