LM2734: output load capacity is very low

Part Number: LM2734

Hi,

I'm using LM2734 to design a power supply. The input voltage is 9V and the output voltage is 3.3V. When there is no any load, the output voltage is 3.3V. But when I connect 3 LEDs (about 10mA) to the output, the output voltage diminishes to 2V. I refered to the application on page 25 in the datasheet. Please refer to my schematic as attachment.

Could you please help to check my schematic? Is there any problem?

Thanks.

  • Kevin ,

Here is my review of the schematic :

    1. Add a bulk input capacitor . Use 4.7uF/25V or higher value cap.
    2. The output cap chosen has very high ESR and may impact the closed loop performance of this device . Use 22uF , 6.3V cermaic cap (X5R or X7R)

also how are you controlling the LED current ?
