LM74700-Q1: Current Shared Power OR-ing

Part Number: LM74700-Q1

Is it possible to use LM74700  with Current Shared Power OR-ing?

I want to use two Input Power 24V 0.6A Lines to make a merged Power Line 24V 1.2A

Is this safe ?

Also I want to use shutdown mode while  Input < 9V applied by using just a simple resistor divider to make low quiescent current.

In this shutdown situation, Reverse Current Protection works well? Maximum Output will be 30V

  • Hi SangBeom Jeong,

Yes it is possible to use LM74700-Q1 in current sharing ORing.
But we would need add some more discrete circuits along with LM74700-Q1.

Could you send me an email at "karikalan@ti.com" to take this discussion offline?

Also let us know the power supply accuracy of 24V supply, is it about 1% or 2% range?.

In shut down mode, Iq current of LM74700-Q1 is very low 1.5uA (maximum) and in this shutdown, MOSFET is turned off.
With the MOSFET off, body diode of the MOSFET will be blocking reverse current flow from one supply to another.

    30V output is supportable.

Do you expect the two power supply voltages to vary drastically from one another?
For example do you have a case where PSU1 is 24V and PSU2 is 28V?

    Regards,
    Kari.
