TPS53681: TPS53681 GUI use question.

Part Number: TPS53681

Hi Sir

My customer want to set "Temp Fault Limit" = 125 degree. but after set to 125 degree, write. then read again. the value will back to default 115 degree.

Is there have set up step? or where we need to notice?

  • Hi Chen,

Just to be sure, there isn't a power cycle in between the write and read correct? Because without writing to NVM beforehand the controller will default back to the 115°C.

If you are attempting to store to NVM are any error messages coming up in the GUI when you do? Some other things to check out are:

    1) Is the NVM security bit set in register FAh (MFR_SPECIFIC_42)? It would prevent the NVM writes if it got set accidentally.

    2) Try updating the GUI to the latest version here. I see from your picture the version you have is over a year old and it's possible that a bug has been patched in the meantime.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Carmen

  • Hi Sir
May we know if TPS53681 GUI can read each power stage temperature?
    Bogey
  • Hi Bogey,

Per the datasheets for the controller and power stages, only the highest pstage temperature is reported. That's the temperature that's reported in the Fusion GUI. Unfortunately there's no way to get individual measurements without using an IR camera or probe externally.

    Thanks,

    Carmen

  • Hi Carmen

    THe Application is TPS53681 – 6 Phase – Iout: 300A.

May we know how to calculate Vin /Vout  capacitor value? and what kind capacitor suggest to use?

  • Hi Bogey,

The easy way is to follow the reference design on datasheet.

    Thanks
