LM5050-1-Q1: Temperature

Part Number: LM5050-1-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5050-1

Hello,

Would this component withstand 120 deg C ambient temperature continuously and 140 deg C for 120 hours randomly.

The conditions are: load current around 2 A, input voltage from 48 V battery, so ranges from 36- 54 V with nominal voltage of 48V

  • Hi

There are two grades of LM5050-1:
    LM5050Q0MK-1 rated upto Junction temperature 150 °
LM5050Q1MK-1 rated upto Junction temperature 125.

Based on the ambient temperature and power dissipation (Need to multiply 48V with Iq current)
    Iq current:

    I_vs current = 288uA max,
    I_in current = 475uA max,
    I_out current = 8uA max.

    Iq current maximum = 771uA.

At 54V, maximum power dissipation is 41.634 mW.

Junction to ambient thermal resistance = 180.7 C/W.

    Junction to ambient difference = 180.7 * 41.634 = 7.5 C.

At 120C ambient, junction would be at 127.5C and the LM5050Q0MK-1 is fine to use. LM5050Q1MK-1 is not suitable.
At 140C ambient, junction would be at 147.5C and the LM5050Q0MK-1 is fine to use. LM5050Q1MK-1 is not suitable.

    Regards,
    Kari.
